Mack stood back, admiring his handiwork. The house was covered with all sorts of Halloween decorations, from fake spiders, to skeletons, to Halloween themed lights. Mack put a lot of hard work into it, and he felt quite proud of what he had accomplished. Why wouldn’t he? Halloween was his favorite holiday, and he wanted the world to know about it.
This was the first Halloween where he had a place of his own, to decorate as he saw fit. Mack had just started college several months ago, and he was lucky enough to be renting this place alongside his roommate Alan. However, Alan was not home at the moment. He was currently at a party and had told Mack that he probably wouldn’t be home till early in the morning. This meant that Mack had the house to himself, to do as he sees fit.
Mack then proceeded to head inside to get dressed up. He couldn’t wait, he had a feeling deep down that this was going to be the best Halloween ever. He quickly went into his bedroom and grabbed his costume. This year, he was going as a male witch/warlock.
As he was putting the lower part of his costume on, he saw a coin fall out of the pocket. He curiously picked it up, revealing a strange looking coin with a man and a woman on it. They both looked like they were pregnant, on one side they were shocked, and on the other side they looked happy.
“Where the hell did this coin come from?” Mack said to himself. He thought back to when he got the costume. He bought it from a yard sale for $20. He remembered that the previous owner was this southern woman living outside of town. The most memorable part about her was how fertile she apparently was. She had a huge pregnant belly, while already having six young children. She seemed eager to get rid of the costume.
Maybe this coin was the reason. Maybe she thought it gave her bad luck or something. Mack then subconsciously flipped the coin, as he did, he found himself looking at…
