“We need to get to the hospital,” Amanda exclaims. Jack holds his belly as his dad rushes to the local hospital. Jack stares at his giant dome. Suddenly- “I just felt something move,” Jack exclaimed. “What,” Amanda said panicked. “I felt something, like- kick,” Jack responded. “We’re almost there,” Jack Sr. assured. What’s going on with me? Jack looks around the car and notices the coin again. No! It can’t be that! “We’re here,” Jack Sr. said.
Amanda fixes up her shirt to cover most of her belly; the family rushes in. “How can I help you,” said the receptionist. “We need an ultrasound done,” Amanda responded. “Alright,” the receptionist responded, “we have a room ready down the hall, first room to the left.” “Thank you,” Amanda responds. The family walks into the room and wait for the doctor. Moments later, the doctor comes in. “Afternoon,” Dr. Gina Fredricks exclaims, “Amanda, I thought you weren’t coming back until a month later.” “It’s not about me, doc,” Amanda assured, “it’s Jack, his belly just suddenly grew while we were driving.
“Hmm,” Dr. Gina says looking at Jack’s swollen belly, “Alright, Jack, come up on this table here.” Jack gets up and sits on the table. “How do you feel,” Dr. Gina asks. “Bloated,” Jack responds, “my stomach feels firm, I also feel like my chest is a bit swollen, I’m nauseous.” “Interesting,” Dr. Gina responds. She turns on the monitor and brings out a wand.
Dr. Gina lays Jack down and puts cold gel on his belly. “Ooh,” Jack shivers. “I’m gonna use this wand to scan inside your belly.” “Okay,” Jack responds. Dr. Gina scans around Jack’s belly and picks up something- a heartbeat. “Oh my,” she whispers. “What? What is it,” Jack replies panicked. “I don’t know what to say other than- you’re pregnant.” Jack, Amanda, and Jack Sr. all look shocked. “C’mon, this is some type of joke,” Jack says. “See for yourself,” Dr. Gina says while turning the monitor to the family.
There it was- the baby resting in Jack’s stomach. “8 months along, with a healthy baby boy,” Dr. Gina continues. Jack’s only focus is the baby on the screen. There was also a realization that he and his mother were somehow pregnant at the same time. Jack steps off of the table as the gel is wiped from his belly. “You feel okay, Jack,” Amanda concernedly asked. What do you mean am I okay?! I just found out I’m pregnant, and you’re somehow pregnant too and aren’t freaking out! “Um, yes,” he blurted.
Jack Sr. puts his hand on his son’s stomach. His hand is then pushed back by a visible kick. Jack places both hands on both sides of his stomach. Amanda feels kicks from her stomach as well. Amanda walks to Jack and they feel movements from each other’s bellies. “Aw,” Amanda laughs, “Wow, I’m having your little brother and somehow, your having your own son.” Thanks for that obvious statement, Mom. “We should get going,” Jack Sr. states. “Thanks, doc,” Jack says. “You’re welcome,” Gina replies, “You and Amanda back next month.”
