"Excuse me sir," came a female voice. Barry looked up and saw a beautiful girl, who he guessed to be about 16, stood in his office, dressed in a dress of pure white.
"Who the hell are you?! And how did you get in here!?" Barry shouted.
"I'm sorry God sir," the girl said, getting on one knee and bowing to Barry, fear obvious in her voice. "My name is Amia, and I'm your chief archangel, as well as your personal assistant."
"I have a personal assistant?" Barry asked, confused.
"Of course Lord, I have served the Gods since the beginning of time," Amia explained.
"So...what exactly do you do?"
"I organise your affairs. I act as a go-between for you and any members of humanity that you may wish to speak to, as well as lesser angels who you don't deem worthy of a direct conversation. I was the one who delivered the message to Abraham to sacrifice his son, and then to spare him at the last second. Then a couple of thousand years ago, the then-current God said "give some of the other angels a turn", so that's why Gabirel was the one to speak to Mary and Joseph. Fortunately I was able to talk the big guy out of that decision, but I had to have a long talk to Gabriel afterwards about how badly he'd done my job. I also act as your advisor when doing things such as answering prayers, and judging the dead, though only you have final say."
"Wait, I have to answer prayers?" Barry asked.
"Well...technically no," Amia said. "You don't TECHNICALLY have to do anything, although it's strongly recommended that you do, since although I have vastly more experience than you, I was not created to run the universe. The last time someone left me in charge in the long term, the universe went to hell. Figuratively of course."
"It sounds like a tough job."
"Well if you'd like, you could pass on your powers right now, and go down in history as the shortest serving God ever. Of course, it would mean you'd been forced to ascend to the Gods' heaven instantly. I have a list of candidates in mind, but the choice is of course up to you."
"No, I don't want to leave my family. Besides, this could be fun."
"Of course sir. What would you like to do first?"
