Brandon Jacobs was having the worst morning of his life. He woke up to horrible stomach pains and vomiting. His body felt like it was way hotter than normal. The timing couldn’t be worse. He had just graduated high school last week and was looking forward to an amazing summer vacation with friends before going off to college in the fall.
Laying in bed holding his stomach it felt like his insides were churning. He thought it was a flu or stomach virus at first. However once he noticed his arm and legs hairs were falling off he began to get worried so he called his mom for help.
Mrs. Jacobs or Laura didn’t waste time getting her son to the ER. After reports of a strange new virus hit the news some weeks ago she had grown paranoid it would affect her only child. After a rather long wait they were finally able to see a doctor. He was a nice young man, who asked the same old questions an took a few DNA samples from Brandon as he sent them off for testing. They did a few X-rays as well.
Brandon’s symptoms only seemed to be getting worse however as he had lost at least 30lbs and he even seemed to be getting shorter. After about an hour the doctor came back with the test results as he had a stunned look on his face.
“Well? How bad is it?” Laura asked for her son.
Dr. Williams took a deep breath as he pulled out the x rays of Brandon’s abdomen and showed them. “Mrs. Jacobs...Brandon, what you are looking at is an x ray of Brandon’s abdomen. Do you see this spot here? Where it looks like the organs are shifting away from something?” He said.
“Yeah I’ve been feeling it all morning. Hurts like hell.” Brandon said.
“Well...that’s because your organs are shifting around inside you. They are making room for something....a womb.” He said with a pause:
“A...what?! But I’m a guy!” Brandon said.
“Yes...I’m afraid it’s DAX...the new untreatable virus you’ve heard about by now I’m sure. The virus is rewriting your genetic code to that of a female. Your organs are shifting and moving around to make room for your new ovaries and womb. Soon your body will begin to change more, hip expansion, loss of body mass and height, loss of hair, breast development. At the current rate by the end of the day he will be a total female.” The doctor said.
The news came like a tidal wave as Brandon and his mom couldn’t believe it. They had heard news of some weird new virus on the news but they never figured it would affect them. The was no knowledge of even how one contracted this virus let alone cure it.
“The virus usually comes in waves, they will be painful so I recommend going home and resting. Drink plenty of water and don’t try to fight it. Once the changes the complete come back and see me for a physical. We can go over your options then.” Dr. Williams said.
