He picks up the slim piece of paper from the pillow and hastily opens it. His eyes scan the page in the dim light. It reads:
Dear husband,
It appears you have forgotten to spoil me rotten this morning as I feel I deserve. I hope this will be rectified this evening.
Your wife
"Oh no!" He groans and flops back onto the pillow. He feels his gut wrench. The thing is, he had planned to spoil her rotten. The croissants were hidden in the bread bin and the orange juice in the garage. He'd purchased her favourite coffee and planned to brew some before she woke so she would smell the aroma as soon as she rose. There was a single red rose hidden in the sleeve of his coat and a flower delivery was coming that morning too.
As if on cue, the door bell rang. Jumping from the bed, he rushed down the stairs almost tripping on his feet more than once and opened the door. It wasn't who he expected...
