Ash and Dawn have set up camp for the night in a forest on the way to Pallet Town. Dawn is setting up camp as Ash and Pikachu are training together. Piplup notices something off to the side of the clearing they're in and wanders over to it.

Piplup is surprised to find a remote, although it's not like any remote he's seen in the past. This one has a lot of labelled buttons, although he can't read so can't tell what any do. Out of curiosity, he presses a button, not realizing that he was aiming the remote at Dawn and finds himself in Dawn's body. He looks over in confusion, seeing a Piplup setting up camp, seemingly not noticing anything out of the ordinary. He grins with Dawn's mouth, and looks down at the remote, which Dawn's body lets him be able to read. He commits the functions of the buttons to memory, and debates on whether he should swap back with Dawn. As interesting as it is to be in his trainer's body, he'd rather be in his own body.
