"Don't be embarrassed sweetie." Ms Thompson comes over and hugs you warmly. "We aren't going to make fun of you for it. I'm glad you felt like you could be yourself here."
Her comforting hug feels so nice that you almost wish it was the truth.
"Do your parents know about this?" She asks, releasing you.
"No." You shake your head. "Please don't tell them."
"Okay." She reassures you. "I won't tell them about this." Then she changes the subject. "What should we call you? We can't refer to such a pretty girl as Daniel."
"Danielle." You reply, remembering what Felicity had called you earlier.
Ms Thompson laughs. "That should be easy to remember."
"I thought you said a boy was coming to visit?" You hear a voice behind you.
"We made a mistake Sarah." Ms Thompson answers. "This is Danielle."
You turn to see a small girl, about 7 years old. "Hello Sarah." You wonder if she can tell that you're really a boy. You're not sure that you like the answer either way.
"Hello Danielle." She replies. Then to her mother "But I had to move into Felicity's room because a boy was coming to stay."
"That's right." Says Ms Thompson. "Felicity, would you rather share with Danielle? She's closer to your age and you might be able to swap clothes."
