This choice: Get hurt emotionally and run away from Cadance.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

Two Forms of Pain

    by: GWriter Author IconMail Icon
The impact is hard enough to make you stagger a little, but not enough to knock you to the ground. You stand there for a second, stunned that Cadance would hit you like that, let alone at all. You then feel the side of your face where the back of Cadance's hand struck you, then wince at the pain that it causes. The princess looks at you with a face of anger at first, but when she sees the bruise that she left on your face, she is instantly filled with regret.

Not only did the impact hurt you physically, but the fact that Cadance, your old babysitter, was the one that hit you hurt you emotionally, as well. You walk to the bathroom so you can check on your wound and get away from Cadance. The princess tries to put her hand on your shoulder, but you push it away and continue towards the bathroom, shutting the door and locking it once you're inside. You look at your reflection in the mirror and see the bruise on your face. It isn't too big, but it is a little noticeable. After a failed attempt to open the door, Cadance knocks and tries to get you to listen to her.

"[Your name], please let me in!" she pleads.

You say nothing.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hit you like that, I swear!" she says.

You still say nothing.

"Please believe me [your name]! I don't know what I did... I was just mad, and I wasn't thinking, but I'd never hurt you intentionally. Please let me in!"

Cadance still doesn't receive a response from you. Realizing that there was no chance of you talking to her again, she leaves you alone. Meanwhile, in the bathroom, you consider skipping dinner tonight. You don't feel like talking to anypony, and somepony's bound to want to talk to you about something. You don't want to sleep with Cadance tonight, either, after what just happened. The bathtub is big enough to sleep in. Maybe you'll sleep in there, or maybe it's not too late to room with Celestia instead? You sit in the bathroom either crying or sulking for hours, then you hear the bell calling everypony to dinner. Despite your earlier plan, you decide to go to dinner.

During dinner, neither you nor Cadance say a word. At first you're relieved that nopony's noticed your bruise, but then...

"Oh dear, [your name]," gasps Rarity. "What happened to your face?"

Shit.

Everypony looks at you and sees the bruise on your face, and Cadance freezes in her chair. In her mind, she thinks that you're going to rat her out, but for some reason, you decide not to.

"I was lying down on my back while texting and I dropped my phone on my face," you lie.

As you expected, you get a couple of chuckles from Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie.

After dinner, you head to the balcony to get some air, when somepony approaches you.

Who is it?

You have the following choices:

1. Cadance.

2. Somepony that didn't believe your story about the bruise. (Reader's Choice)
