As you open the box to have a closer look at the game you have bought you wonder a bit. The game is called "Random Spell Party". You have never heard of such a game. The design of this game seems a bit old-fashioned. The grafics on the board are no comparison to the video games you know.
But since you have got banned for your computer games for a full week, you decide to give it a try.
The rules of this game seem a bit stange too.
The manual says:
This game is a big party for two to four players.
At the beginning of a round, every player has to role the dice.
The number rolled decides, how many spell cards a player has to pick up.
After every player has picked up his spell cards, the round starts.
The players now turn rounds trying to play out their spell cards.
The player who succeeds in playing out the most spell cards is winner of a round.
The first player who wins three rounds is the winner of the game
On the first look the rules sound easy.
But what are these spell cards about?
You think about to check what is written on these cards before starting your first game. You decide not to have a look at the cards. You are searching for a game helping you to distribute your boreness. Playing a game without knowing what this game is about in detail could be such a thing. As the rules say you would need minimun one other player in order to play the game.
So, you think about who to invite to play this game together with you.
Maybe you could ask your best female friend Emily. You and her join the same class at school and are friends since you have joined the primary school. But how should you invite her? You have got banned for you mobile phone also. You would have to walk over to Emily in order to ask her. If she is not at home, you will have to walk back home for nothing. The ban for the usage of your mobile phone is a big problem in this situation.
So, you also could ask your older brother Chris. He is twenty years old and a collage student at the moment. He is at home because he has no classes today. You only would have to walk over to his room in order to ask him. But maybe he would laugh at you. It has been a long time since you have played board games together with him.
Or should you invite more than one other player? If more people play the game, it may be more fun for everybody.
