As you sit down next to your sister, your mother announces that she's saw a friend of hers in one of the other cars and she's going to try to find them.
"Michael," she says, looking at your sister, "keep an eye on Missy and make sure that she doesn't get into trouble, OK?"
"Mom! I'm Michael," you exclaim, "why do you keep treating me like I'm Missy?"
Your mother looks exasperated, "Missy, I've had just about enough of your overactive imagination today. You already ran off on your own once and I won't have it happen again. I want you to listen to your older brother while I'm gone, OK?"
You just stare at her, completely disbelieving what's going on. You're a 20-year-old young man home on break from college and for some reason your mother is treating you like a child.
"Young lady, I said I want you to listen to your older brother while I'm gone, OK?" Your mother seems very annoyed and clearly expects a response. Not wanting to anger her further, you decide that it's best to just play along for now and deal with her obvious mental break later.
"Yes mom." Your sister is giggling slightly under her breath, but you're not sure whether she's laughing at you or at how silly your mother is being.
"Just see that you do." Your mother gives you a stern look and then smiles slightly and tousles your hair. "I know you're in a hurry to grow up sweetie, but you should enjoy being a little girl while you can."
With that, she turns and heads out of the car towards the front of the train.
With your mother gone, you look over at your sister and wonder why she didn't say anything when mom kept calling her by your name. Is Missy suffering from whatever's gone weird with your mom?
"Missy?" You venture, curious to whether she'll respond to her name.
