Angie was quick to pull away, surprised by her son's sudden action, but after taking a second to recover, she returns to it before he could worry. Her lips press against his in a gentle, affectionate kiss, now returning back the surprise to him. After several moments of this, she breaks off and looks into his eyes, narrowed and peeved.
"That was a stupid question of me. You're definitely alright. Stop daydreaming and let's eat."
Jeff smiles weakly and sits down at the table, his mind processing what just happened. She actually took that quite well, he thinks, feeling his heart rate return to normal.
"You know I can hear you thinking right?" Angie says, picking up the spoon and starting to stir the food on the plate in front of her.
Jeff flinches, looking back at her with wide eyes. "Um...what?"
"You know well what, mister," she replies, pointing her fork at him, "...you haven't answered my question about your homework and I know that kiss was just to distract me."
Jeff blinks, his mind blank for a second there before he relaxes a bit. For a moment there, he thought he had written her in such a way that he had given her mind reading powers without knowing. It's true though that he hasn't even started on his homework. After swallowing his saliva , he nods sheepishly, "Yeah, um...sorry."
She sighs and shakes her head, "It's fine. Eat your dinner first, then we'll talk."
Jeff hesitates, kind of wanting to mess with his mother more, but seeing how she's already annoyed at him he decides to obey. As he fills his plate, he notices that he had set down more plates without thinking.
It seems there were some changes to overall reality as a result of getting a hotter mother. Who would be coming over to the table?  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
