Chapter #4Tainted Consumption by: Tsuyo   It is a sunny weekend and since classes are not in session, one particular black and red clothed girl is bored out of her mind, “I’m bored!” Ruby Rose exclaimed lying on Weiss’s bed in her Team ’s dorm.
The rest of her team had plans of their own for the day; her partner Weiss went to the CCT for “family matters”, Blake went to a new bookstore that was just recently opened and Yang... well, Ruby had no idea what her half-sister is up to other than casually saying she needed to train more.
She sighed, “I already did maintenance on Crescent Rose and even played some video games on my Scroll. What else am I supposed to do now?”
As Ruby pondered on what to do next, her stomach suddenly growled!
“Well, I guess that answers my question.” Ruby said with a blush as she got off the bed and headed out to mess hall and see if there is something to eat.
When Ruby finally arrived and entered the mess hall she wasn’t surprised that no one was inside at the moment, meaning the few weekend faculty kitchen staff were likely out in the City of Vale for whatever their own reasons were.
Regardless, Ruby smiled as she skipped to the kitchen and before long she was in front of the refrigerator.
“Let’s see what’s inside.” She said as she opened the refrigerator door and took a look.
Inside there were a few different kinds of food neatly arranged but her eyes lit up as she quickly locked onto a plastic container filled with cookies topped with chocolate ships and *gasp* strawberries!
Ruby licked her lips, "Ooo, those cookies look so good! And they’re topped with strawberries, my favorite!"
But just as she was about to grab the container, she noticed that there is also a small milk carton with an unlabeled symbol that she has never seen before.
"Hmm, must be a new brand. And I am kind of thirsty." Ruby muttered as she inquisitively analyzed the milk then looked back at the Cookies, and then back at the milk before she shrugged.
"Eh, why not just have both?” she said before she grabbed both the cookie-filled container and the small milk carton before closing the refrigerator door.
Exiting the kitchen, Ruby quickly sat down at one of the tables and quickly opened the container and milk carton.
Ruby paused, “Should I have gotten a glass for the milk?” she pondered before shaking her head, “Nah~, I’ll dip cookies in milk some another time.”
With that, Ruby set upon the cookies first and instantly loved them the moment the first one was devoured. Then she tried the milk.
“Hmm, there’s a slight taste that I can’t put my finger on it. But all in all, it's not bad!”
It didn’t take a minute for Ruby to finish eating the cookies before downing the entire milk carton with a satisfied sigh.
“Pah~! Like I told Yang back on initiation, I don’t need help growing up, I drink MILK!” Ruby declared while raising the empty milk carton in victory.
After gathering everything, Ruby went back to the kitchen and threw the carton in the trash while placing the empty container on the kitchen counter and leaving a note thanking and apologizing for having the cookies for herself but enjoyed very much.
“Well!” Ruby started as she walked out of the kitchen before stopping before the first row of tables with her hands on her hips, “I’ve had my fill and I suppose I could go into Vale and see if there is anything else to do!”
But before Ruby took a few steps forward toward the main doors, her stomach suddenly growled and bubbled loudly causing her to bend over and clutch her stomach in pain.
Ruby groaned before she thought back to the milk, “I forgot to check if that milk had already past the expiration date-!“
“Groooooowl!” Her stomached now suddenly roared causing Ruby to fall on her knees as the pain intensified and now spread throughout her body!
Tearfully, Ruby feebly pleaded for help, “Ooh... it hurts! S-somebody... help me...”
Little did she know, this was only the start of something bigger.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
