This choice: Cameron worked carefully to remove the earrings. • Go Back...Chapter #5Cameron worked carefully to remove the earrings. by: Mr. George The sting as the earrings went in, startled a high yelp from Cameron. His hands recoiling, he half expected them to drop to the attic floor. However, they just remained in place, making his ears flex briefly before settling.
The cautious exploration, was slowed as Cameron didn't want to get stabbed by the hooks... again!
But, as his fingers found no sharp points behind his ears. Nothing to threaten him. As he felt with more confidence, he couldn't find anything that felt like a latch, or a catch, or a hook.
Then again, he wasn't an expert on earrings, either. His fingers fumbled, the back felt like it was decorative, with a design stamped into it. Any details that'd allow Cameron to remove them lost in the ornate design. The diamonds themselves seemed to shine with an unnatural brightness, drawing even more attention to themselves.
A distant, deep part of Cameron's mind complimented them. At least, they were stylishly simple, and not something more flamboyant.
Tugging at his hair, he tried to get it to better hide them. His hair in need of a trim, was enough to cover his ears, and with a little encouragement should be able to hide ... these.
He thought about getting to a jeweller, and seeing about getting them snipped free, and about getting through dinner without them being noticed.
Wishing it were a cooler time of year, Cameron pulled the hood up on his sweatshirt, and went downstairs. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
