This choice: They do it and there are a few unforeseen consequences but no huge changes • Go Back...Chapter #4Beautiful Brainy Powerhouse Orgin Story by: Unknown Erin barely even heard Leah's tentative question about being able to reverse things if anything went wrong, the more she thought about it the more she wanted to be smarter, sexier and able to grow into a muscular behemoth. Her finger flew across the keypad as she rapidly typed up the scenario she had in mind.
"Hey, Erin," Grace said, with a hint of concern in her voice, "what are you typing now?" Grace reached for the phone that was ostensibly hers but that she had yet to actually use.
Erin twisted away from Grace as she continued typing, "there," she said finally, dramatically stabbing the enter key. The same white flash occurred but this time there was no obvious result.
Grace wanted to yell at Erin for using the phone again before the friends had really decided what they should be doing with it but she almost immediately forgot why she would mad about it. Instead she found herself saying, "We really should hurry if we're going to make it to the science hall before the class leaves for the field trip."
Leah and Erin both agreed and Erin gave Grace the phone back. Grace shoved it into her purse as she hurriedly tried to find her Science textbook and notes. The other girls were similarly scrambling and Grace wondered why they thought they had time to mess with her new phone when they were running late for this trip that had been scheduled weeks ago. If Grace had really stopped to think about it she wouldn't have been able to remember even having this science class in her curriculum and neither would the other girls but at the moment they were all focused on not missing this trip.

"C'mon you guys, hurry up," Grace called back to her friends as she jogged across the campus towards the science building and the waiting bus. She was already eerily comfortable in her newly improved body and was getting frustrated at how slow her friends were. Leah and Erin were obviously winded trying to match what to Grace was an effortless pace. Grace bounded through the bus door and up the steps, offering apologies to the driver and their teacher for running late. Seconds later Leah and Erin did the same and the trio moved to their seats as the bus ground into gear and began moving.
"Geez Grace, not all of us are athletes like you, have some mercy," Leah fumed when she got her breath back.
Grace shook her head, as fleeting images of running track and pumping iron in the gym flashed through her memory. "I could have ran much faster if I had wanted to and left you behind but this is an important trip." Again if Grace had really thought about it she couldn't have said WHY it was important. Erin was oddly silent, she merely smiled and patted her hair back into place. "I didn't mean to make you mad," Grace said by way of apology. Leah shrugged and told Grace not to worry about it. The girls spent the rest of the trip going over their notes and Grace often found herself not remembering writing them despite the fact they were obviously in her handwriting. Most of the notes centered around something called augmentation of biological systems through radioactive infusion. Once again Graces mind skittered around the blank spaces without recognizing they were blank when she tried to remember why she was taking this class. "It's important," she muttered to herself, something that Leah echoed seconds later.

The girls followed their class and teacher through some sort of scientific facility until they all reached a large room similar to an auditorium. As the class spread out to find seats some sort of machine was unveiled in the middle of the room and everyone craned their heads to get a better look. Grace scratched at her shoulder and wondered why she was wearing a t-shirt, normally she wore sleeveless shirts to show off her arms and shoulders better. She began absently rolling her sleeves up as someone from the facility started talking about the machine that was on display. "Stop being such a jock," Leah joked as she poked Grace with her elbow. Grace shrugged and tried to concentrate on the presentation but was having a hard time. Her mind wandered to the workout she had planned for this afternoon, then to whether or not she would take up the guy she had met at the gym the other night on his offer to go out to the movies this weekend. Before she knew it she was drifting off to sleep until she was suddenly shaken awake by Leah who looked and sounded completely panicked. "Grace, we have to get out of here, something is going wrong with the machine." Grace looked around and realized that the room was almost empty and the rest of the class was racing through the doors that seemed to be slowly swinging closed automatically. Some alarm was loudly shrilling and Grace wondered how she could have slept through this. "Grace, hurry," Leah said again. Erin was looking oddly unconcerned even though by Graces estimation the doors would close before even she could sprint there. Instead Grace ran directly for the device which was spewing smoke and wobbling in place while emitting a loud whine that was slowly increasing in pitch and volume. "Grace!" Leah screamed as she raced towards her fried. "Get away from that thing!" Graces first thought had been that she may be able to throw this thing through a window or something to get rid of it but even as she strained to pick it up heavy steel shutters crashed down over the windows at the same time the doors slammed shut. Grace looked over her shoulder at Leah's terrified face and Erin's oddly serene smile changing into a look of shock.
"Grace, don't try to pick it up, back away from it or you'll get almost all the energy from it!" Erin shouted, starting to run towards the device as well.
Get the energy from it? What was Erin talking about? Grace looked down to see a series of lights on the machine all change to red at the same time. "Shit, that can't be good" Grace said softly, just before the device she was holding exploded, hurling her across the room.
