There was a strange sound just outside the Pokemon Center as Nurse Joy managed the counter. She wondered what it could be, but it sounded vaguely like a Pokemon's cry as far as she could tell.
"Dia, see if you can't watch the counter for a minute or so." Nurse Joy asked the Chansey by her side as she walked out the door. The Chansey was a bit surprised at first, but didn't object.
Nurse Joy made her way outside. On the streets just outside, she spotted a Munchlax, a Pokemon not commonly seen in Kanto, wandering the streets. It appeared to be a bit battered and also seemed to be a big strange. There was something different about its coat, but it wasn't a Shiny Pokemon. Still, there was no way that Nurse Joy could ignore wounded Pokemon. She ran over, carefully scooping in injured creature in her arms. The Munchlax pitifully tried to wriggle its way out of her arms, but only worked up its injuries, groaning and crying weakly some more.
"It's okay...don't worry, you'll be better soon." Nurse Joy said with a tranquil smile. She slowly walked back in the Center, the little Munchlax not struggling much anymore as it was cradled within Nurse Joy's arms.
"Hold on now...uh, Dia we have a patient STAT." Nurse Joy said calmly. Due to the lack of trainers who needed their Pokemon healed at the current moment, the Chansey, Dia, was able to make its way easily to the Munchlax. It carried the smaller Pokemon in its arms and then started treatment. Joy herself grabbed some Oran Berries she had on hand, which helped ease the Munchlax's pain and help facilitate healing.
"You'll be just fine, don't worry." She said with a smile. Feeling itself heal and seeing Nurse Joy's smiling face, the Muchlax's rebellious attitude nigh on melted away and it started to resist less, accepting the treatment as it laid back. It only look thirty minutes before the Munchlax was able to get up and walk on its own two feet. However, an ache still persisted in the Pokemon's body.
"There you go, good as new!" Nurse Joy said with a smile, patting the small Pokemon on the head, causing it to give Joy a rebellious glare as its face blushed. Still, Munchlax was not careless enough to ignore the human woman had helped it out quite a bit.
"Hmm...maybe you should stay here with me. After all, it would be dangerous to send you back out. We'll wait for a trainer to take you in and you won't have to worry that much about any more attacks."
Munchlax didn't object as Joy smiled at it. The small Pokemon decided it would indeed be a good idea to stay with Joy. However, it processed this act of kindness warranted some repayment of some kind. Question was what...?
