The innkeeper doesn't finish his rant, as long trails of bandages shoot from the woman's outstretched arm and tightly ensnare him from head-to-toe. With only his nose free to breathe, he falls out of your sight behind the inn's desk with muffled protests and a quiet thud.
"You raid my tomb, snatch away many of my prized possessions, steal my very sarcophagus, and you don't even know my name? How more insulting can you be?"
The pure power in her voice sends a chill down your back. You take in what you can of her appearance from this angle: dark skin, dark purple hair that passes her hips, revealing black clothes, lots of exotic gold and blue jewellery, bandages coating her wrists and lower legs. A staff of gold and sapphire rests in her right hand, and a large red cobra with piercing blue eyes keeps itself close to her. Her very atmosphere makes you uneasy to the core.
You glance at the two females behind her. Besides their eyes and mouths, they're covered in lose bandages. From the crooked way they're standing, the empty look in their eyes and the agape mouths, you can easily tell they're Mummies. But the only thing that can create and control Mummies is...
A Pharaoh.
Your uneasiness transforms itself into full-on fear, and you grip your wooden sword tighter as you turn your attention back to the Pharaoh, who has made a seat for herself on the desk. Now you can see her ruby red eyes and ample breasts.
Her snake disappears for a moment behind her desk, and soon surfaces with a book in it's mouth for it's master. She takes it, rewarding the reptile with a gently rub of the head, before opening it and flipping through.
An uncomfortable silence slowly passes as you watch the Pharaoh intently, the only noises being the distant snoring of other inn guests above and the mouth-breathing of the Mummy Girls. The Pharaoh soon finishes the book with a loud snap and rests her chin on the back of her hand, her eyes closed and a gentle smile on her face.
"Sorry if I'm boring you, young hero."
As her words enter your ears, she opens her eyes and locks gazes with you.
Your heart almost stops in terror.
"There is no need to spy on me. If you want answers, come out and ask." The warm smile never leaves her lips.
You quickly glance around, and find the snake and the Mummy Girls are also staring at you.
"Now, come out of the shadows..." She beckons you with a finger "Or must I drag you out myself?"   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
