This choice: Duck and Roll  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

Duck and Roll

    by: Unknown
You duck under whatever the spider threw at you. The back of your mind registers a loud crack behind you, but the rest of it is focused on throwing yourself into a forward roll that carries you across the clearing towards the monster. Finishing your roll, you spring to your feet in front of the astonished spider-girl. Whatever she had expected to happen, a direct attack wasn't it.
Moving quickly, you bring your sword down on her head faster than you thought was possible. Just as quickly she brings her staff up to block the blow. Your sword bites into the wood of her weapon, locking them together. The two of you struggle for control, you trying to use our height and weight to your advantage, the spider-girl gripping her weapon in four of her six arms, the other two scrabbling behind her back for something. You know if she gets whatever she's reaching for, she'll gain the upper hand.
Desperately, you twist to the side. The move puts both of you of balance, and your weapons go flying across the clearing. Stumbling, you spin around, looking for your opponent. Spotting her just regaining her balance, you lunge for her, despite to end the fight quickly. You grab her by the head and slam your's against hers in the time honored tradition of brawlers everywhere.
Apparently, you manage to do it just right. You barely felt anything, but the monster drops and doesn't get back up. You walk over to the weapons and manage to pry your sword out of her staff. Looking around you spot the object she threw at you hanging from a tree branch. It appeared to be a braided spider silk rope that had been weighted at the ends. If it had hit you it would have hurt. A lot.
You turn to look at the spider-girl and see that she hasn't moved an inch. You step closer. She doesn't appear to be breathing.
"Crap, did I kill her?"

You have the following choices:

1. Hit her too hard

2. She's still breathing
