The daughter of land and sea.(Water edition)

Though you were able to breathe underwater, you didn't want to risk being fish food and swam to the surface. You find a large patch of ice floating in the water and without hesitation you climb on. As you caught your breath in the surprisingly tolerable cold, you see what you think is a giant reddish tail fin behind the protruding ice. You hear a voice, which sounds like a young girl. "Hello?" you call out. To your surprise, she heard you. You catch a glimpse of her head, seeing black hair as she dives into the water. You turn and see if she's coming to you. From the water emerges a young mermaid with a shirt rather than a shell bra.

"Oh, hi there." she says. "I'm Melody." "Hi. I'm _____." you introduce. "What brings you out here?" she asks. You tell her that you have no idea what happened to you, or how you came to be here, then you ask for her reasons for being out here. "I'm a person born of both land and sea. Human father, mermaid mother. I also used to be a princess, but I've long since rejected the throne for a life as a free mermaid. It wasn't easy since I had to leave my home, but my parents respected my wishes and even came along. Now we just wander the vast ocean and visit new lands." "Woah. That's quite a story, but you seem rather young for something like that." you said. "That's why my parents came along. It was probably hardest on dad, since he was still mourning his friend and dog." she says. "Oh, I'm..... I'm sorry to hear that."

"Why don't we do something to avoid any sad stories?" Melody suggests. You agree. But what is there to do?
