Chapter #3
Fear
by: Unknown
The air scraped past all the exposed skin on your body, leaving the sweat covering it conflicted. Whether it should turn to salty ice or stay a hot bodily fluid remained unclear, but you could care less. Only one thing was on your mind now, Run.
The muscles in your body barely managed to continue, screaming for a break, but you couldn't stop... And the sound of crisp snow crunching behind you confirmed it. You had to run. What defense did you have? A tattered loin cloth? A twig in the snow? No. There was no such thing as "defense" for a simple, labor slave. Just fear and work.
Even now as you run aimlessly through the wilderness, it was work. Work. What a strange word, especially when you can remember your early childhood. Images of mystic purple silk outlined by onyx colored metals. Weird contraptions filled with mystical fluids... Being babied by a loving family...A family...
But what did you have now? Hell, you didn't even own yourself, your angered pursuers did. And what now? Would they catch you? Would they continue to own you like a sad animal? Or would they be fed up with the "thing" that tried to flee in fear and make you a merciless example... No. Not would or if, but could they? Could they catch you?
