Call Sarah

    by: Hollybear Author IconMail Icon
You feel relieved as you hear Sarah's voice on the other end of the phone.

"Sarah, I've got an emergency and I need your help!" You exclaim into the phone.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help you," Sarah replies. "Have you tried calling my mother?"

"I don't want to talk to your mother, I want to talk to you! You're my best friend and something weird has happened." You try to explain.

"It would probably be best if I explained everything then," Sarah answered. "You see, I'm not really Sarah. I'm her mother, Maggie. We decided that you and Sarah really didn't need to go to Prom next weekend. Instead, we decided to magically switch places with you two so we could go and have a night of fun while you two have to deal with all of our adult problems."

You listen in shock at the bombshell that is dropped on you. Your mothers had planned this all along.

"We will go ahead and switch back to our old bodies after Prom," Maggie explains in Sarah's voice. "Unless, of course, you ruin our lives. Then we will just stay in your bodies and live your lives."

After you hang up with Maggie, you call Maggie's phone in the hopes of getting a hold of Sarah. Sarah answers the phone and talks to you in Maggie's voice. She is just as shocked as you are and can't believe that your mothers were capable of pulling this kind of stunt.

"What should we do?" You ask.

"I think we just need to play along." Sarah replies. "Hopefully our mothers will keep their promise. I don't care if we miss Prom, just as long as we get our old bodies back."

You hang up the phone and walk mindlessly through the house. There is nothing that you can do now but wait and hope that your mother and Maggie keep their promise.

The week is one of the longest weeks of your life. As much as you tried to maintain the illusion that you were not a teenager, you found it incredibly difficult to perform your mother's job. All the while, you watched as your mother enjoyed your teenage life.

Saturday eventually rolled around and you watched your mother get ready for Prom. An anger was burning in side of you, but you were at least thankful that you would get your body back before the end of the weekend.

You said goodbye to your mother as she left to go to Sarah's house. Unfortunately, this meant more alone time with your father. As much as you tried to keep up the act that nothing was wrong, it still felt weird when your father tried to be intimate with you.

At two in the morning, there came a knock at the door. Outside stood a policeman. He apologized for waking you before he told you the bad news. Your mother, and Maggie, were in a car accident involving a drunk driver. Bother your mother and Maggie were killed. Little did the officer know that your mother was in your body and Maggie was in Sarah's.

You now had no one to trade bodies with and were stuck as your mother. At least Sarah was in the same boat as you and you could rely on her for help as you two adjusted to your new roles.

THE END.
