I awoke later to find myself in a hospital bed. I could hear the beeping of the monitor. I then saw Cameron, my girlfriend sitting next to me in a chair.
"You're awake!" She said as she hugged me and gave me a kiss on the lips.
"Wh-what happened?" It was hard to talk, as all the smoke had damaged my voice. I saw that my hand was bandages up where it had been bleeding. I had a head ache where I must've hit it on something.
"The building that your parents own was caught on fire. They think it was an accident, but they're not sure," she said in her soothing tone.
"Did they find my mom?" I asked her.
"Not yet and... Sam... Your father died in the fire," she said getting quieter. My eyes widened. This couldn't be, it must be some sort of nightmare. "I'm sorry, Sam..." She continued. I tried to get up but all the wires held me down again.
"I need to find her," I mumbled.
"Right now you need to rest," she said, trying to keep me down.
It was a few weeks later, and they still hadn't found my mom. The bell rang in science class. All the students got up and grabbed their backpacks.
"Sam, may I see you after everyone leaves?" Mrs Morcan, my science teacher, said. After everyone left, Mrs Morcan continued. "Sam, you were doing so well with your grades. I just want to know why you've been failing recently."
"Well you see..." I struggled to get the words out for the pain was too much. The only thing I wanted was to see my parents. "My.. my.. my parents owned this building for their company.... And it burned down... My mom went missing and my dad died," I said, wanting to talk to someone about it.
"Oh. I-I see," Mrs Morcan dipped her head.
I then went to the cafeteria and got lunch. I sat down next to my best friend and my girlfriend.
"Did you get in trouble?" Teddy, my best friend said.
" No, it's about my grades," I replied.
"Why?" Teddy asked. I hesitated and Cameron put her hand on my shoulder.
"If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine," she said. Just then, Daniel, a tall, buff, jerk bumped into Teddy.
"Oops, sorry," he said sarcastically. Teddy got up.
"You know, this is the last time, Daniel. If you keep this up, I will beat you to a pulp," Teddy said standing on his toes to reach Daniel's height. The whole cafeteria looked at the two and soft murmurs spread throughout the cafeteria.
"Well, why don't we just settle it here then?" Daniel said, rolling up his sleeves. Teddy rolled up his. Daniel punched Teddy in the face and Teddy tackled Daniel to the ground. Daniel through him off and started punching Teddy over and over and over. Teddy was bleeding and bruised. Staff ran towards the fight. You knew if you didn't intervene, Teddy could never be the same. Then you get up and...
