(This arc has Steve shrink to just 1/8th of an inch, so it's relatively large for a micro. Just a heads-up)
You heard a familiar voice call your name from behind you, and you knew who it was before you even turned around. There was no mistaking the sharp yet soft-spoken voice of your friend Erin. She was a bit of an introvert, and you definitely weren't used to her engaging you in public just out of the blue, but you weren't in any place to question your luck. She was incredibly cute, and more importantly a hell of a lot more approachable than more confident or cocky girls your age. Although you'd never thought you'd be into a chick with blue hair, Erin was somehow able to pull it off with stunning aplomb. Still helplessly stuck in your reverie, you turn and face the girl, grinning like a fool.
"Uh, Steve? You in there?" she inquired with a laugh, and you snapped back into reality as your goofy smile dissipated.
"Hey, Erin... 'sup?" was all you could muster under the circumstances, and you felt like hitting yourself with a very blunt object.
"Not too much. Hey, do you have time to sit down somewhere and talk? I have to talk to you about something."
You couldn't believe this was happening. First she approaches you out of nowhere, and now Erin wants to go somewhere alone to chat. It was your lucky day!
Even so, you weren't about to decline out of pessimism. "Sure! Uh, we could just go to my apartment real quick. It's only a minute or so from here."
She agreed, and after a brief walk you make it to your apartment. "Sorry about the mess, I haven't been her in a few days," you explain, turning to close the door.
"Oh, it's no big deal to me. You might find it a little inconvenient, though," Erin responded with a giggle.
You smile weakly, back still to her. "What do you mean?" you say with a confused laugh. "I don't get the--"
Your body was suddenly surged with an instantaneous tingling sensation, cutting you off mid-sentence. Although it was difficult to detect the source, you knew it had come from behind you. Had Erin done something? Your vision rapidly became blurred and sort of stretched, and the size and proportion of things began to appear skewed. Your look down at your hands, noticing they seem smaller than usual, and as you look back up you realize it's not just them. Everything around you seemed bigger, but it was you who was becoming smaller! Erin continued to laugh, but as the tingling continued it was feminine yet roaring. Your vision gave out at last, and you slipped into the inky blackness of unconsciousness.
