What if the Dictaphone ends up not in the hands of our main protagonist(s) (whoever they may be) but in the hands of an external actor?
An external someone unknown from our protagonist(s)' point(s) of view?
A dictaphone manipulated in the shadow, by an unrevealed person (at least, for a time)?

How things would go from the eyes of not the dictaphone's beholder(s), but the ones who are the dictaphone's subjects or "playground", directly or indirectly, nonetheless?

How about a story of someone not having the control of things as someone, unknown, but more or less close to our protagonist(s), shapes things to their will?...
