Just as Vanessa prepares to record her first change, pushing the record button down, there's a loud banging on the door, with Wendy shouting, "Open the door, Vanessa!"
Vanessa quickly hits stop to avoid what her sister's noise would incur, but it's too late. With a sparkler-like sound emanating through the ears of herself and her three 'friends', the elder Barnes is magically compelled to open the door for Wendy. Still, she figures she can still shoo her away and then resume her fun... or outright erase her from existence. What did she even need a bratty (in her mind) younger sister who barely looks like they belong in the same family?
Tempting as the idea may be, Vanessa ultimately dismisses the idea. Wendy is great for having a lesser sister to compare herself to, and so long as that remains true, she could instead just send her to be staying with her friend Brooke Ryder, choosing her over Tamara Jenkins on the simple fact that Brooke is further away. So she opens the door, about to ask, "What do you want, Wendy?" when Wendy, Liz, Amber, and Eden all seemingly agree upon one thing: claim the Dictaphone from her.
Vanessa could overpower Wendy with ease. She could overpower Amber or Eden with somewhat less ease. Liz would be a struggle, but she could thwart her eventually. She couldn't take all four girls ganging up and dog-piling her to try and take her precious prize.
The device passes hands back and forth between all five girls, who soon lose track of it. Eventually, one of them slips out of the struggle, holding the key to their heart's desires in her hand...
