This choice: The Parents Brought home a new game • Go Back...Chapter #6Mum and Dad come home by: Gizmo0   Me and my wife just arrived home after a business trip to three of our five sons yelling out, "Mum and Dad are back" and then one of the twins said "About bloody time too"
That is not what you want to hear when coming back from a four-day absence. I think we've been away a little too long, my oldest is seventeen and he's the only one that really needs me anymore. The twin's names are Jason and John. They're fourteen while my last two sons are twelve and ten, Cole and Leo
I'm still a little worried about Leo as he's a late developer but my wife tells me I worry about nothing. He's small for his age and is very thin but apart from that he seems ok. My seventeen year old Camrin comes down stairs after hearing all the commotion and hugs us both. Camrin has grown up so fast. He's a great help to me with his brothers.
He has the body of an athlete and a mind of an intellectual but always has those moments where you can't help but wonder how he does so well in school.
Now that the greetings are over I turn to look at Jason, "About bloody time is it? staying out of trouble i hope"
"I can't believe you're asking me that question, i've only been in trouble twice and both times were John's fault"
"Bullshit, I got you out of those situations remember, and what's this crap about not staying out of trouble"
"You see, I told you he was listening, that's the problem with him, he's always listening"
"Stop changing the subject"
"It's your fault anyway, if you weren't always listening we wouldn't have to watch every word we say"
"What's going on, I can't leave you alone for a few days without all this happening"
"See, he's doing it again"
"You know I'm not going to stop, so get used to it"
"Yeah right, and you wonder why we call you a pain in the arse"
"I'm warning you, if you don't start talking I'll put you in a headlock"
"Stop it both of you you're scaring your younger brothers"
Both boys look over towards the couch seeing both Cole and Leo peaking over the back to see what was going on.
"Don't worry little bros, nothing is going to happen" John reassures them
Now that's all over I pull out a board game out of my bag I got from my trip to the lab, I found it in the bin for some reason. Thinking who ever it used to belong to no longer wanted it I brought it back for the boys to play together. Surprisingly it comes with a bunch of electronic parts which is way out of my league so I’m sure they will figure it out
"Look what I got you all" I said handing it over to them, they quickly looked it over wondering what it was, they all seemed pleased.
"How does it work" Jason asks
"No idea, I thought you guys may like to figure it out. It's some old game I found at the lab"
Jason, John, Cole and Leo ran upstairs with it and they quickly got to work trying to figure out how the pieces fit together.
"So what sort of game is it" Leo asks. Still looking it over Jason replies "I have no idea it looks like a monopoly but has a bunch of weird wires attached to it
"Well whatever it is I'm sure you will be able to figure it out" John says
Cole sitting there twiddling his thumb "What about that sticker on the bottom"
They all look down at the sticker
Jason quickly looks through it "This must be the instruction manual"
"How did you figure that out" Cole asks
"It looks like your typical Ikea instructions with all the pictures"
"I can't wait till I'm older and have more brains to understand all this" Leo says
"Just get Camrin to help you out with school and I'm sure you will" Jason replies
Laying the board on the ground with the four surrounding it, it has a metal box on each side with a wire coming out of it.
"It says here to attach the wire to your arm" Jason said
"How does it get power" John asked
"Must be battery operated" Jason answers
"But where's the batteries" Cole asks
"Magic" Jason replies sarcastically
"Magic is real" Leo said excitedly
"No it's not, he's just kidding around" John replied
"Oh, but how does it work" Leo says
"I guess we'll find out once the wires are connected" John said
They all look down at the wire and attach it to their inner elbow, as they do a green light appears on the box it's attached to.
"Looks like it's working" Jason says
"So now what" John asks
"Now we have to wait for it to heat up" Jason replied
"This is a board game not a car" John replies deadpan
"No seriously it's warming up, I can feel the blood in my arm flowing into the box" Jason said
"Well I hope it doesn't suck it all out of me, i'm not sure we can replace blood" John says
Cole and Leo look a bit scared but the process does not seem to hurt at all, after a few minutes a red light starts blinking
"Looks like it's ready to go, what now" John asked
"Says here, press the blue button" Jason replied
"Ok here goes nothing" John said
As John pushed the button found in the middle of the board it opens to find the dice and cards inside
"Wow that's pretty cool, I can't wait to play" Leo said excitedly
John sets the cards in place and pulls out the dice, as he does so a ball shaped hologram is displayed above the board for everyone to see.
A voice yells out welcome to the game
  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
