This choice: no one and make it there safely • Go Back...Chapter #5no one and make it there safely by: adianjayz There was a lot of traffic during this time of day, yet you somehow made it to the hospital where your body was carted off without possessing a passerby. You supposed that you were already getting accustomed to navigating as a ghost, or you were just plain lucky that you didn't bump into anyone by accident. Regardless, you are at the hospital now, in search for your empty shell of a body. You aren't sure if you are considered dead yet, or if you can return to your body, but leaving your body as is was definitely not a good idea. The longer it takes for you to find it, the more likely your body will be discarded due to the 'comatose' state. (At least, that is what you suppose it would be.)
As you float into the hospital lobby, you notice that the hospital is running business as usual. In other words, the waiting rooms are filled to the brim, and hospital staff are scrambling around for their intended destination. You could not hear in your ethereal state, but you could imagine the number of beeps for hospital equipment, shuffles from people walking, and voices from surrounding conversation. Just then, you saw a middle-aged man running into the hospital towards the front desk. As if by instinct, you quickly swerved away from his trajectory, thinking that it would not be good to get caught up with his situation. Judging by his mannerisms with the receptionist, he seems to be a relative of a patient in the hospital, most likely one in the ICU.
"Did he really need to run straight to the desk like that? He nearly spooked me, and I might have even possessed him," you think with an annoyed tone. But you couldn't necessarily blame him either, as his family member might be traumatized right now. Speaking of which, your body is also in trauma, so you should find it post haste. Following the man, you meander to the desk to try to inquire your body's whereabouts. Except that... you can't really communicate with the receptionist. "Right, I'm a ghost now, so I don't have vocal chords to use." You sigh as you slowly back away from the desk, pondering your next mode of action.
At first, you thought about simply scouring the whole hospital as it is most direct, but it might not be most efficient, and you start to feel this coldness slowly diffusing through your form, as if you are stuck outside in a winter night after a heavy snowstorm. As much as you hope not to involve someone into this (not only for your morality, but also because of the fact that you aren't totally sure about your powers yet), you assume that one wouldn't hurt, and you will leave once you find your body. Believing in your rationale, you scanned the lobby for a potential candidate to house your form during your search. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
