Daniella heard a familiar exclamation from her room mate from her usual spot on the couch.
"Another rejection," Sawyer sighed as she read the screen on her lap top. "'Thank you for applying, but we regret to inform you we have decided to go a different direction.' Why couldn't they just say we hired someone else?"
"It's just the way everyone does things. Just keep trying; you'll find something." Daniella O'Brien walked into the room as she spoke. The young woman was in her early twenties. She'd graduated from college a couple of years ago, and quickly found a job as a legal aide. She was fairly short, standing at only 5'2". She was a little on the round side, weighing somewhere in the 200-250 pound range, though she hadn't weighed herself since she was still in college. Her curly red hair was cut to chin length, and framed her chubby yet cute face nicely.
Her friend and room mate, Sawyer Garcia, couldn't have looked more different then Daniella if she tried. Descended of Mexican and Portuguese immigrants, her caramel skin contrasted sharply with her Irish-American room mates' pale and freckled complexion. Her long, black hair rolled past her shoulders, and she was considerably bustier then her pear-shaped friend. She was also a fair bit taller, standing at 5'9".
In terms of academics and professional life, however, Sawyer had been so far less successful. She'd been quite the athlete in high school, and got into university on a soccer scholarship. However, in her final year, she'd blown out both her knees, ending any hopes of playing professionally. And though she'd finished her degree, she was quickly learning that a BoA in Lit was not very helpful for someone looking for a job.
Despite being out of college for almost a year and sending out her resume multiple times a week, Sawyer had yet to find full time work. So far, she'd managed to hold out due to her savings and a small amount she'd been making on the side, but she knew if Daniella hadn't let her move in, she'd probably have been homeless by now. And though she'd been trying to keep her hopes up, it was hard to remain optimistic when she hadn't even been able to get past the interview stage in the last nine months.
"There's times it doesn't feel like it. I mean, seriously, I got turned down by McDonald's. F@#$ing McDonald's."
"I know it's frustrating, but something will happen. Trust me," Daniella said as she checked the time. "Any way, I've got to run or I'll miss my bus."
"Kay. I'll hold down the fort. Have fun at work." Sawyer waved at her friend as she pulled on her shoes. Daniella was wearing her professional business attire, while Sawyer was currently dressed in a sleeveless pink top and a pair of blue jean shorts. And though she wasn't about to say anything, Dani couldn't help but notice that she was filling out her outfit more then usual. Her midriff baring shirt did nothing to hide her double rolled pot belly, and Sawyer currently had the lower roll stuffed into her tight shorts. Her thighs had noticeably thickened as well, turning her bottoms skin tight. Meanwhile, there wasn't a way to describe her boobs that didn't involve the word, "bulging."
"It's not too surprising, to be honest. She's always eaten a ton, and she stopped working out at all once she got injured. Besides, she's still a lot lighter then me, so it's not like I can judge." As Daniella made her way down the street, she thought, "Well, hopefully she'll find something for work soon. It'd be nice to have some help paying the bills. And if she doesn't get off her butt soon and start moving around some more, her wardrobe might not be able to handle what she's doing to her waist for much longer..."

Daniella was mistaken about how wide the gap between the two was in weight. She did outweigh Sawyer, that was true, but only by about thirty or forty pounds. The former soccer star's extra height helped hide her weight gain, but it was certainly there.
It wasn't really surprising she'd put on a few pounds. From running a marathon every other day, her work out routine had dropped to nil. The problem was only exacerbated by her diet. Sawyer was still eating like she needed 5,000 calories a day, but her body needed less then 2k. The general quality of that diet had also dropped since college, aiming more for the cheap and greasy, rather then the more costly health food options.
There was a third reason, and it was tied to her current sole source of income.
Sawyer booted up her computer, and sat down in her comfy computer chair. She cracked open a can of coke and took a sip as she slid on her headphones. Even when she was still athletic, Sawyer was something of a gamer nerd. She'd taken to streaming her sessions after moving in with Dani, reasoning that if all she could do was play some games, then she might as well try and make a little extra money on the side. It wouldn't be enough to live on, but it was better then nothing.
At least, that was what she initially thought. While she wasn't yet self sufficient, the stream was proving to be more profitable then she initially imagined. Granted, her fan base seemed a little... different.
It had started when she knocked her drink over during one session. She'd stood up to clean the spill before it went sticky, and the chat had exploded with comments regarding her chubby belly. Sawyer had been fairly self-conscious regarding her pudgy gut, but a number of people in her chat seemed enamored with it, and it quickly became rare that she could get through a session without someone asking to see it.
They seemed to enjoy feeding her as well, and she couldn't help but notice that as she ate more and showed off her softening features, the more subs and donations she got as a result. She'd started doing punishment games, eating a slice of pizza when she was scored against in blood bowl or died in Dark Souls, for example, and those sessions had proven to be her most popular.
Recently, though, some of her fans had been asking her to let them buy her something to eat on camera. She'd hmm'ed and haw'ed about it for the last week, and she'd decided...
