Chapter #5You give the formula to Paul, Kevin's youngest son by: scriptboy You think of your friend Kevin Zimmer, your incredibly smart and geeky friend from high school. In fact, you have known Kevin almost all your life, ever since you met him in elementary school. Shy, quiet but super bright, Kevin was always interested in math and science and giving back to the community. You were so impressed when Kevin met Mary, equally smart and geeky and just like him.
Kevin and Mary had a son together, and they named him Paul. Luckily, both of them did get the boy involved in sports at an early age. They tried him out for American football but they pulled him out since they hated the thought of their precious son getting tackled by a 300-pound giant wearing pads. So, they put Paul in soccer and gymnastics instead, and he has been flourishing in those sports ever since.
On weekends Kevin and Mary had been helping out at the Homeless Shelter for about two hours every Sunday, thanks to the church that they had been involved in. In fact, the work in the soup kitchen was right after the worship service and Paul had begun to enjoy serving in the kitchen. Paul was an altar boy in the church so he would spend his entire Sunday serving the community in some form or the other. Lastly, Paul was a member of his Boy Scout troop and participated in the scouting events every Saturday after soccer practice. This is what made Paul a great candidate to receive the formula and the powers which came with it.
You called Kevin and you told him that you had been working on a secret formula which would help everyone in the whole family but that you were most interested in having Paul take it. So you poured all of the formula into a container and you drove over to their house.
You sat in the nice, comfortable living room by the fire place as you explained the formula to Kevin and Mary. The house had high ceilings and wide hallways and rooms so there was plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. Of course, Kevin and Mary had a hard time believing your story as you told them about this formula which you had created.
“Okay, let me get this straight. You created a formula which could give anyone who drinks it the power to make anything he desires happen? Why don’t you drink it yourself?” Kevin asked him.
“Well, according to my calculations, the formula will have the maximum effect on someone who is still growing! I don’t want to give it to someone who is too young or too old. I think Paul is the perfect age to receive it because he’s a teen.” You reply. “If I take it, chances are that it won’t even work on me.”
“So… what if it doesn’t work? Will it hurt him or make him sick?” Mary wondered.
“No, but I’m very confident that the formula will work!” you respond.
“Okay… Let me go and get him.” Kevin said. “He’s in his room playing on his computer since he just got home from soccer practice!”
Kevin stood up and walked to the room. About a minute later, he walked out again, followed by a shy boy with long, straight, brown hair and bright, blue eyes. He had a friendly face and a tall, slender stature although he seemed rather athletic, like a seasoned soccer player. He wasn’t very muscular, but his legs were beginning to show some muscle development from all the hours of running on the soccer field.
“Oh, hi Mister James!” the friendly boy said, while he was still wearing his soccer shorts and jersey with his number 8 displayed on the front of his shirt. The front of his jersey also displayed the team name, the “Saints”.
“Hey there, Paul!” you chuckle as you read the name on his jersey. “How appropriate is that your team is called the ‘Saints’.”
“Uhh… Why?” the boy wondered.
You pick up the plastic container, which is on the couch next to you and you hold it up in front of you, showing it to the boy who is standing before you.
“I hold here the only container with the God Formula!” you say to him. “Now, I want you to drink it… All of it… And then tell me how you feel, okay?”
“Oh… Okay… Will it make me smarter so I’ll understand my math homework better?” Paul grinned as he took the container in his hands.
“Ahh… Very good question!” you smile. “Yes, Paul… You will know and understand everything about math, history, physics, astronomy, anatomy, biology, chemistry… You will understand everything about anything… and MORE!”
Paul stared at the container and smiled.
“Ooooh!” he grinned. “Me likey!”
Paul removed the cap from the top of the container and he then tilted the container as he placed the spout right up to his lips, gulping the formula down his throat. Apparently, he liked the taste of it, since he drank all of it in one big gulp. In about a minute, he finished all of it and set the container down, just an empty plastic container now, and not one drop of the formula left in it anymore.
“Ahhh… That was delicious!” Paul smiled. “Best fruit juice I’ve ever had!”
“So… How do you feel? Do you feel anything?” you ask the boy.
You can tell that Kevin and Mary were eagerly waiting for something to happen, although nobody was sure of what to expect.
“I dunno… I don’t feel any diff—“ Paul shrugged, while taking a step back from where he was standing, when I noticed something. It was as if his entire body was glowing a bright, white light!
“Ohmygosh! Paul?” Mary shouted. “What is going on?”
The light surrounding Paul was growing more intense! It was as if a tremendous force was entering his body!
“Uhhhh!” Paul moaned out loud as his feet began to rise up and off the ground! He was literally levitating about a foot above the carpeting as the bright light became so intense that you, Kevin and Mary were forced to close your eyes or turn away! Paul was practically becoming as bright as the sun!
That’s when I understood what was happening! Paul was gaining the powers of God! He had gained the powers of billions of planets, stars and galaxies… All converging into the body of this one, preteen boy! It was amazing! You can’t see because of the blinding light! As you squint your eyes in another direction, you see that bright light dimming rapidly, seen by the reflection of the light on the walls and the ceiling in the room around you.
You turn around and you see Paul before you, still levitating, but with just a faint, white glow surrounding him, making him almost seem angelic.
“Paul? PAUL!” Mary screams as she gets up and runs towards the boy, who is floating in mid-air.
“Whoa! What a rush!” Paul speaks, with his voice almost having echo. His voice seems to be coming from every direction! “Wowww…. This is intense!”
You and Kevin stand up and slowly walk up to Paul, where Mary is standing. She wants to hug him but she scared to touch him since he’s still glowing and levitating a foot above the floor.
“Paul? Can you like… land back on the floor?” Mary asked her son.
Paul looked down and descended, allowing his socks to touch down on the carpet again. She then rushed up to him and hugged the divine boy.
“Are you alright? Are you okay?”
“Mom! I’m feeling great!” the boy smiled. “I have never felt this good in my life!”
“So, did it work?” Kevin asked you.
“Ask him!” I reply. “We’ll find out!”
