Spider

Focusing on eight legs at once wasn't easy but Shawn was gradually getting the hang of it. Slowly he scuttled across the coffee table, a tiny Black Widow spider moving with a somewhat drunken gait. The glass beneath him seemed to stretch out as huge as a football field. He had never once tried a form this small before and he couldn't say he was exactly comfortable with it.

His eight eyes spaced around his head watched every part of the room at once. Both the body's instincts and his own concerns made sure he paid special attention to the human. From this angle, Becca seemed vast, literally miles high. When she spoke, her voice was like a foghorn. When she moved, the movement of air felt like a powerful gale howling over the sensitive hairs that coated his abdomen and many legs.

The ceiling light was blocked out as Rebecca's huge head moved closer and hovered over him, like a pink meteor that could crash down and crush him any second. Shawn tried to scuttle out from under her, finding his animal panic overrode his clumsy human control of his legs, allowing him to scuttle more freely. Alas, she followed him around the coffee table, peering at him, her nostrils not more than a few inches away, pumping out hot blasts of air.

"Wow, Shawn, you're really picking it up now!" Rebecca boomed excitedly. "If I didn't know any better I'd swear you were the real thing. I'd probably have smooshed you by now!" He wished she wouldn't use that word: smooshed. "So you're probably wondering what the film is by now, right?" She paused, as if expecting him to answer. "It's a remake of Arachnophobia, y'know the old 90s film. I know you're gonna love it because they've really sleazed it up, kinda like the Piranha franchise. Something about a crate of poisonous spiders washing ashore at spring break. Basically an excuse for close up shots of you scuttling over teenagers racks."

Shawn hesitated. He wasn't sure if this sounded like such a good job after all. Sure stuntwork was supposed to be risky, but being such a small creature in close proximity to a bunch of twitchy teenage girls was suicide. He was just about to will the shift back to human form when...
