The woman breathed in sharply as she caressed her belly bump. She attempted to speak but it was obviously difficult for her. “I... I think- ARGH! My water just broke,” she gasped. Mike whipped out his phone and dialled emergency services, impatiently drumming his fingers as he waited for an operator to pick up.
“Hello, how can I help you?”
“PLEASE! This woman’s screaming! You gotta come and help her. I- I think she’s going into labour!” He quickly hung up as the woman yelled again. She clutched his hand tightly, crushing it in her vice-like grip. “Oh, GOD!” She made a downwards motion with her hand, smacking the remote out of Mike’s hand and sending it crashing to the ground and sending a stray blue ray in the process.
By the time the ambulance finally arrived, the pregnant girl felt like she was about to explode. They loaded her onto the truck, taking care to make her as comfortable as possible. A female paramedic went up to her and asked, “Sorry ma’am, I know it’s not the best time but what’s your name?”
The woman gasped sharply before blurting, “MICHELE! MICHELE-GERALDINE HUNTER! B-BUT EVERYONE EITHER CALLS ME- AH! M-MICHELE OR JERRY!” Michele screamed as she felt something stirring inside of her, wanting to come out.
“Calm down Michele, we’re gonna get you and you’re baby safely!”
Michele squirmed as the paramedic placed a stethoscope to her stomach. “I- I need you to call my sweetheart. They can’t miss this! Their name is _____.”
