At first, you could not figure out what was going on. Everything seemed much larger than what they appeared to be the day before. You pulled the covers off yourself and discovered you were in a body that was not your own. You were somehow now inside the body of a little girl! On instinct, you screamed.
No sooner the screamed left your lips, you heard hurried footfalls in the hall before your bedroom door swung open. Your mom entered with your older sister, Sarah. She had just turned 13. "Stay calm, dear." Rushing over to you, mom said. "You are going to be okay."
"You call this okay!?" Motioning to your body, you asked. "I'm not supposed to be a little girl!"
"It will be easier for everyone this way." Chiming in, Sarah stated. "You see, the women in our family possess certain abilities."
"You mean that you two are some kind of witches?" Wincing, you asked.
Mom smiled. "Well, yes." Simply, she replied. "The only catch is you have to be a girl to use that magic and we did not want you to feel left out."
"So you turned me into a little girl?" Unnerved, you asked. "Why not a teenage girl?"
"Actually, that would have been more dangerous." Wincing, mom said. She sighed. "Both boys and girls go through a phase where their bodies and minds undergo various changes..."
"It's called puberty." Unimpressed, you said. "I did take health class, mom."
Mom sighed. "There are things girls are expected to know once they reach their teen years." Trying another approach, she said. "You have no such knowledge. It's best to start you out young."
"That and this is not a permanent situation." Jumping in, Sarah added. She winked at you. "Unless you get to like being a girl."
"This is a trail run, if you will." Smiling, mom said. "If you like being a girl and having magic, you will grow up again as a girl. If you find that you do not like it after a year, I will change you back into your original form of a teenage boy."
"You are going to have this one year experience weather you like it or not... Tina." Stating your new name, Sarah said. "Just go with it and give us your decision at the end of the year."
"Now then, Tina." Kindly, mom said. "What would you like to do on your first day of being a little girl?"
