The visitor did not wait to be invited, and so - it seemed - the knock was to suffice for a polite request to enter. Not that Laurence had the disposition to reprimand any man or women who should enter his chambers without permission, the rare occasion it was called out was at the behest of his brother or mother. This visitor was one in particular, who Laurence would not challenge.
"Your Majesty" his cousin, the Duke d'Lyon said, belatedly showing his courtesy by bowing as he stood before his smaller built, and half dressed cousin. "I hope I am not interrupting?"
"You are not, cousin" Laurence assured after a moments hesitation, "what is it you wanted?... Charlie?"
"I" the Duke started pausing, before smiling curiously and looking at this cousin's naive wide eyed face. "I hope there's no hard feelings about the council meeting. I just find myself getting carried away when disguising matters of state... especially when in the presence of that. Man."
Laurence was surprised by his cousins candor, and not quite savvy enough to be cynical of his motives. "Oh.. oh it was, nothing. Don't worry about it." he folded his hands protectively over his bare chest, only just remembering that he stood before his cousin half naked.
