...Ashley, sporting her usual glowing smile at the sight of two of her closest friends.
"Hey guys, come on in!" she said cheerfully, stepping aside to allow them room into the corridor. Like the rest of the house it was nicely furnished, with framed family pictures hanging on the walls and a vase of flowers on the end table just next to the door. Jenna and Abby stepped forward down the corridor and into the kitchen as Ashley closed the door behind them. She then followed the sisters and gave them both an affectionate hug before offering them drinks, which they gladly accepted. Once three glasses of OJ had been served the three girls sat at the kitchen table and began to catch up as they hadn't gotten together in around two weeks. Ashley was wearing a blue t-shirt, green cargo pants and was barefoot. Jenna and Abby were both wearing jeans, with Abby having donned a red tank top that morning in contrast to Jenna's green tube top which showed off her bellybutton. Both sisters had removed their shoes and socks and left them in the hall, as was practically traditional to them whenever they were visiting friends.
"Great to see you Ashley! How have you been? It's been like forever!" exclaimed Abby .
"I know, right! I've been good, just doing the usual, homework, chores, that sort of thing. Sorry I haven't been in touch much lately, I've just had a lot to do lately."
"And what sort of stuff would that be?" asked Abby in a mock inquisitive manner. "We get the same assignements in class and I'm always done before you!"
"That would be because you're not as lazy as I am." responded Ashley with a cheeky grin. The three girls laughed. "What about you two, everything been good?"
"It has..." said Abby offhandedly. "Except Jenna here gave me the worst tickling of my life yesterday for no good reason!"
"Oh come on, you started it!" said Jenna in indignation. "You know not to tickle my feet when I'm trying to read. Besides, I know you loved it really." She reached down below the rim of the table and gave Abby's side a playful pinch, causing the latter to jolt in her chair and swat Jenna's hand away.
"Well that's good, because today you might be able to get some revenge on her." Ashley told Abby mysteriously.
"Huh! What do you mean Ash?" both sisters asked.
"Well, I didn't tell you in my text yesterday but my parents are on vacation in Europe and my brother's gone on a school trip to Washington. I've got the place to myself for a week!" It was evident that she'd been waiting impatiently to reveal this surprise. "Plus my dad keeps a lot of rope and duct tape in the garage. Basically, we can do whatever we want for a week!"
Jenna and Abby could hardly believe their ears but they were delighted and excited all the same.
