Bill arrived at school, feeling very much self-conscious and out-of-place wandering around in his own mother's body.
“Hi, Bill!” cried out a voice from down the crowded school corridor.
Bill squinted and recognized his best friend Matt approaching.
“Oh... uh... hi Matt!” Bill nervously replied with his mother's voice.
“Almost late again buddy?” Matt laughed, playfully smacking Bill in the arm.
“Yeah... oh... I... um guess so...” Bill stuttered.
“What's wrong?” asked Matt.
“Oh, I just... I guess I'm not feeling myself today,” Bill mumbled. “Say Matt, let me ask you a question and please be honest with me. Do I seem... y'know... different at all to you? I mean do I look or sound weird? Am I dressed normal and stuff?”
“Get out of here!” Matt laughed.
“I'm serious!” Bill persisted.
“Dude, you look totally normal,” said Matt. “And your outfit is fine. Just like you always wear. Nice heels, by the way.”
“I always wear this?!” asked Bill, gesturing down at the sweater, dress slacks, and low-heeled women's dress shoes he wore.
“Well, stuff like that. Yeah,” said Matt. “My mom is pretty jealous of your wardrobe. But, so what?”
“Well... but... these are women's clothes!” said Bill. “Do you think I'm a woman?!”
“What? No!” laughed Matt. “Dude, what's with you today?”
“Tell me, Matt!” pleaded Bill. “This is so weird. Just humor me and tell me who I am.”
“Jesus, what's going on with you?” frowned a concerned Matt. “Do you need to see the school nurse?”
“Just tell me!” hissed Bill.
“Fine, fine,” relented Matt. “You're my best friend, Bill. You're a guy. You're sixteen, go to school here, and...”
“Why do I have boobs?” cried Bill, gesturing at the swollen mounds protruding from his yellow v-neck sweater. “Why am I wearing high heels... and lipstick... and earrings? Why do I look liked a middle-aged woman if I'm really a sixteen year old guy?!”
