Chapter #8

Your parents sense that you are acting strange.

    by: fantaghiro Author IconMail Icon
The next day you didn't get a chance to talk to Tabitha (you resolve to keep referring to her that way) without your parents around. With the bombshell she dropped on you, though, you couldn't help but be a little off. You found yourself starring at her, wondering what she was thinking. She wasnt' acting any differently from how she'd been the last few weeks, still seemingly your sister. But what did she mean with her parting comment about having to 'see how things work out.' Did she mean to restart your relationship? How could that even be possible - she was your sister now!

Even so, you certainly reacted to the kiss she gave you. Maybe you could look past your sister's body? You'd never thought of Tabitha in that way, just as your gangly, brace-faced younger sister. But after the passionate kiss last night, you had to admit that she was cute. But that was your sister's body - it would be wrong to do anything.

Your mental struggle and moral confusion did not go unnoticed by your parents. Later in the day they both pulled you aside to ask about your strange behavior.

You were never particulary good at lying so, panicking, you desperately reached for a partial truth. "It's about Tabitha," you started hesitantly. "I...we seemed to be getting along so well at first. It was like a fresh start. But with her friends and you guys constantly trying to get her to act like the old Tabitha, I feel like things are going back to where they used to be with us."

Your parents looked at you and then at each other. At first you feared they had seen right through you, but after a moment your mom said "I'm sorry, Tim, it's easy for us to forget how hard this is for you - losing Allison and all. You're absolutely right - this IS a new beginning for our family and we should take advantage of it instead of trying to resetting everything."
