After becoming a hero to the entire kingdom, Maximus became the leader of all the knights' and other horses. He was in charge of getting then ready for combat, but honestly, Maximus wasn't ready himself.
Once he was promoted, so was his caretaking. Every day, he would order himself a massage to make himself feel relaxed. Every day involved lots and lots of treats and goodies as everybody wanted to please the heroic horse. The love for him was shown with food.
Many fans of Maximus fed him all sorts of yummy things, and add that onto the kingly food he received as meals. Eventually, the food was starting to catch up to him.
Even though he was in charge of all the exercise drills, he never did it himself. That and the food resulted in quite the porky pony.
His white coat had far more to cover. Most noticeably, his stomach rounded out, hanging from his torso heavily. It hung almost as low as his knees! And it swayed and wobbled with every step he took. His cheeks were puffed up, giving him more of a "cute" demeanor rather than a tough one or a brave one. His thighs were extremely thick, and led up into his meaty, fatty hunches. And those led right into his rump. His rear end was larger than any horse, the two white, jiggly domes that made up his butt took up quite a lot of space in doorways and such. His neck was extremely thick, and he began developing a glob of neck fat that hung downwards from it, making his chin look like it had a rooster's waddle. And speaking of a waddle! His legs had thickened overall, and with his huge, blubbery belly in the way, he had to rock back and forth just to take a step forward.
Yep. He was a fat horse. But instead of being embarrassed when he realized his weight, he saw it as a sign of power. Large and in charge! And anyone who might've said otherwise would be forced to get out. He was in charge after all.
