Nyx was assigned to the south baracks. The training and daily inspections were brutal. Though she experienced quite a bit of emotional and physical pain here, she gradually built up the strength to make it through the chalenges she had to face more easily than at first. As for Flint, they each kept an eye on the other as best they could though they were only together a few hours a day. He was always very timid around everypony but Nyx, if he saw somepony being mean to her he would anonimously cause them to fail inspections or find other ways to quietly get back at them. At times the other ponies made him so nervous Nyx actually had to speak for him. This often caused the other ponies to joke that he was too stupid to speak for himself, but he was very thankful to have her as his friend. These actions only served to bring them closer together. Occasionally Nyx would sneak out at night to be alone with her thoughts. The night was so peaceful and calm. It was a pleasant change from the constant running, yelling and harsh treatment of her everyday life. She might have done it regularly if it weren`t for the fear of what would happen if somepony saw her sneaking out the window one night. Tonight was one such night. She quietly waited for everypony else to fall into a deep sleep before getting out of bed and carefully slipping away. She had been very homesick for a while now. She recalled the stormy night she met Twilight. She was scared beyond description, `till Twilight gently removed her from the bush she was stuck in and took care of the cuts from the thorns. It was so long ago,but she could almost remember every last detail down to what she ate that night. A tear came to her eye as she remembered the day she met Rarity. It was also the day she tried to use magic for the first time (much to her surprise smashing a teacup into the ceiling). She missed her home and everypony there. Just then somepony who was hiding said something.
