Talia wandered the corridors for ages. A grandfather clock that she stumbled upon at one point showed that it was just after quarter past eight, meaning she had left her room almost half an hour ago.
"God!" Talia finally exclaimed, rounding a corner. She was met with yet another lengthy corridor that had at least four other corridors branches off of it. "This place is an actual maze! I wonder if Godfrey could provide me with a map if I asked?"
Peering down each of the four corridors, Talia let out an irritated growl. She had left her room like forty five minutes ago now, expecting to find the dining hall within a matter of minutes. And now here she was, completely lost in her new mansion and beginning to feel hungry.
"Screw it! I'm going down this corridor and I'm just going to choose a random door! If it's not the dining hall, then I'm heading back to my room! Well, if I can actually find my room again..."
Marching down her chosen corridor, Talia decided to check out the end before choosing a door. She hoped to find some sort of huge sign that showed her the dining room, however her hopes were in vain. The end of her corridor just led to another corridor that seemed to stretch on forever, darkness covering the end of it.
"Let's see here..."
Wandering back down her current corridor, Talia had a choice between two doors, both unmarked.
"Okay... Two choices, neither of which seem to be the room I set out to look for. Maybe there's somebody in one of these rooms that can help guide me?"
Deciding on the door to her right, Talia slowly pushed the door open. Her chosen room was pitch black, which almost put her off from checking, but she decided to push in anyway. She tapped the wall next to the door, searching for a light switch. Finding one, she flipped the lights on and entered the room.
"Wow..." Talia nodded, looking around the room. "That is... a lot of paintings..."
The walls of her chosen room were covered in paintings. Some were pressed frame to frame, while others had a little room between them. And it wasn't as though the room was small. It was similar in size, if not larger, than her new bedroom.
Intrigued by this room of paintings, Talia cautiously edged into the room. She felt somewhat uneasy, like the eyes of every single painting were all staring directly at her. It would have been fine if she had been wearing her own clothes, but considering she was wearing a fairly revealing dress, she felt even more uncomfortable.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea... She thought, quietly walking over to one of the walls. I should really leave...
Despite thinking this, her curiosity caused her to remain in the room. Talia edged up to one of the larger paintings, craning her neck to look up at it.
The painting she had chosen to stare at depicted...
