As he took a break he looked at the world around him and was reminded of the beauty of the world around him as he could see far over the Kingdom of Dar. Small villages dotted the land between great stretches of forests and swamps, streams of smoke gave signs of life and activity. Everything looked peaceful and tranquil and gave him a great that all would be well with the world, unfortunately, reality started to set in for him as he looked down the mountain and saw a yeti climbing up after him.
The hairy beast seemed to smile a fang-filled mouth at him as it was observed as if he could do nothing about it. Admittedly, he would have felt much better fighting the monster on solid ground under his feet and his armor protecting his body but even on the creature’s home turf, he was far from helpless. His eyes took greater notice of the mountain as he searched for the best place to do battle from instead of the best way up the mountain.
It was tempting to throw the dagger but it was better to keep that for if the fighting got close and personal which he planned to do his best to avoid. The monster was stronger than him physically and only a fool went into a battle for survival at a disadvantage. There were some loose rocks he could use as projectiles and he hoped his rock throwing as a child would pay off with the death of the creature this day.
He waited for the creature to start another reaching grasp and threw striking the hand bruising the hand but kept a grip on the mountain. It let loose a defiant roar at him but he responded with a heavy rock dropped on the head of the monster. This time the noise was a howl of pain, blood poured into the vision of the yeti, it tried to wipe the blood away.
Sir Garrett jumped down on the creature as it was trying to regain the eyesight it had momentarily lost. It was a risky move and he knew it but prepared himself the best he could. His body weight was intensified by gravity slamming him into the monster sending it tumbling from the mountain, its home had become death to it. The rocks were unforgiving to the longtime resident as they were to any newcomer to the mountain and it wasn’t long before the lifeless corpse of the yeti was added to the mountain’s growing number of dead.
The paladin did not escape unscathed as the rope he had tethered himself with to the mountain grew taunt and yanked him back to the cliff side in a jolting hit. His body was sore already from his exertions, he summoned the healing into his body and started the climb up the mountain again hoping he wouldn’t have to face any more of the foul yetis. He was nearly at the peak but he wasn’t entirely sure what he would find.
