The young cleric had a hard choice in front of her and she wasn’t sure what to do. There was too much risk in leaving these chemicals unattended. She needed to get rid of them in case there was an evil purpose to what was going on here. Melis tightened her grip on the mace and swung with all of her might. Containers shattered under her blows spilling and splashing chemicals all over the area extinguishing the flames. If she was wrong she had probably done more damage than she could ever hope to repay and ruined a great friendship.
She held back tears at the sad thought but she still had a quest to complete. Melis would try and explain why she had done it to him and pray he understood. She cleaned up the destruction she had done and put it in the trash, salvaging what she could, which wasn’t much. The cleric sat down and wrote a note in case the Archmage returned while she was gone looking for him. Walking down the stairs she could feel something was off, something wasn’t right. It was possible that it was just her guilt nagging at her but it felt like something more.
Calling on her magic she detected life outside of the tower. This wasn’t unusual, as many people called on the wizard of the tower for help but she thought that people had been informed of the absence of the wizard. A worry came to mind as she contemplated why the people were here, they could be after the treasures locked away in the tower, the tower that she had unlocked. Going on the defensive she put her shield in place and lifted her mace as she moved to the exit to confront the people outside of the tower.
