“I will not give myself over to unknown magic. Danger lays in trusting the mystical forces from beyond the gods. A hefty price is all you will end up with. I will entrust myself to our totem spirits.” Said Eric dismissing his wife’s offer.
Carna responded, “What has the wolverine spirit done for us? You are a great warrior but this family only gets glimpses of you. To our children, you are some mythical figure because they rarely spend time with you. If one of us upsets, you our very lives might be in danger. You talk of the price of non-divine magic but the only life you have is one of death and slaughter.”
The anger began to rise in Eric, “Carna the spirits have made us wealthy granting me my victories. You can’t dismiss their gifts. The wolverine spirit is my burden until my strength wanes. Yes, it is frustrating but to shirk my duty dishonors my ancestors. I guess I better leave before I lose control.” Eric picked up his gear storming out the door.
Carna called after him, “My father suffered now you suffer I love you but I want the rage to stop. Let someone else deal with the wolverine’s price. I am done with you if you don’t promise me now to remove this blight on our family.”
