An inn in town

    by: cana Author IconMail Icon
The arrival and unloading went as smoothly as it could for the group. Sir Garrett in his caution kept rechecking the gear. He worried about the weight of the pack for Princess Fina. He shook it off though, everyone had to carry their own weight. She knew this would be a difficult journey into the swamps. Sir Garrett loved having Fina at his side despite the danger. Stronger together than apart this would test Fina's resolve to be married to one whose life engendered danger by the nature of it. Sir Garrett hefted his pack with ease. He looked to Albert approaching with pack already on. Princess Fina soon arrived with a smile on her face. She hefted her pack easier than Sir Garrett thought she would.

Princess Fina trained hard so that Sir Garrett wouldn't find her a burden. If the need arose she would be able to take care of herself. She smiled at Sir Garrett's appraising view. She stuck out her ample chest for his pleasure. Making her way down to the docks and beyond. The rest of the party followed into a quaint village that stood next too the foreboding swamp.

Lizardmen could be seen in various places bartering for goods and services throughout the village. The years of peaceful dwelling next to the village civilized them some but savageness still remained in their eyes. They wore clothes and sometimes even armor that their more primitive brethren shunned. Princess Fina watched them with fascination as they passed. She lingered for a moment before catching with the others. They reached a humble two story inn with a quaint look about it. Fina's father never let her out of the castle. A political pawn was all he saw her as. She now felt like a caged bird set free. Princess Fina wanted an active life doing good in the world with Sir Garrett. Not a life of an ornament to be paraded out on special occasions. She looked forward to staying in the simple inn.

Albert observed the inn with reluctance. He knew that greater pleasures were due him and his family. His families greatness could be found in any book detailing the history of the kingdom. His father's weakness was an aberration in an otherwise illustrious family. While grateful to Sir Garrett for taking him on as a squire but disliked the fact that he lacked true noble blood. Still, with Sir Garrett's strength he might restore his family to its rightful place. He would learn and put up with what he had to until he saw a chance to seize glory.

Sir Garrett arranged for three room feeling fortunate to get separate ones. This would be their last chance at comfort for a while. After giving the room keys to everyone they went to their rooms to put their packs down. Afterwards as a treat for Princess Fina he took her down to the village market for some shopping and soaking up the atmosphere. He loved her joy at the world around her.
