Sir Garrett was dedicated to the cause of good first and Princess Fina second, so when he saw a woman stumble out of the woods clutching two children desperately he knew the marriage to his love had likely been delayed. The woman spotted him and fell to her knees in thanks to the gods for bringing help to her.
"My town is being attacked by giants," the woman pleaded. "We need your help Sir Knight."
Sir Garrett wanted to comfort the woman but he felt awkward with people. His training and duty left him with little time to socialize much less make friends. When he came on scene people were usually at their worst, desperate with fear or anger at the losses that had occurred to them. Sir Garrett avoided comforting people because it was easier and simpler for him to resolve the problem at hand than try to use skills he had never learned. With that thought in mind Sir Garrett spurred Thunder to a gallop and headed in the direction the woman had come from.
It didn't take long to reach the town in question and spotting the twelve to fifteen foot giants was certainly easy. Three giants encircled the town laughing as they toyed with the villagers while a female giant with the garments of a priestess watched in what appeared to be disapproval on a nearby hill. Sir Garrett didn't take time to contemplate things as he drew a lance and launched Thunder into full speed.
The first giant didn't realize the paladin was present until he felt the sting of a lance sending him sprawling to the ground. Pain and disorientation froze the giant as the hero spun his horse and charged and used to end the threat the giant posed. To his delight the other two attacking giants roared in outrage and charged for him which left the villagers with the opportunity to escape. Sir Garrett as he charged with his third and final lance at the closer giant who left himself open in order to strike the puny human struck the behemoth in the heart but not before the giant struck back.
The paladin was launch through the air by the dying giant’s club. There was no soft landing as Sir Garrett crashed through a roof and floor before having the root cellar’s hard dirt floor break his fall. Time to heal was not a luxury that Sir Garrett had, so with his remaining strength he call upon the god Rabin, god of justice and good to heal him. The warm energy flowed through him allowing him to once again take the field of battle once more.
A search for the giant slayer was underway by the final attacking giant. It muttered curses and threats in giant as it pursued the human who had slain its companions, and to the giant’s shock the human ran from the building where it had land and darted between the giant’s legs and with both hands swung his sword cleaving the Achilles tendon causing the giant to collapse to the paved town streets.
“I curse you armored fool,” the giant bellowed in common. “I will your villages crushed beneath my feet you insect."
“Not in your lifetime,” Sir Garrett slashed the giant’s falling fist as he leapt aside from the threat.
Precision slices from the master swordsman slew the giant but it was a slow painful work. As the giant succumbed to his wounds Sir Garrett whistled for the Thunder as he prepared to check out the last giant. With reluctance Sir Garrett rode towards the last giant realizing he was about at the end of what his strength and skills would allow him to do.
The giantess was attractive with gray skin like the stone they claim to be carved from. Her body was shapely and the dress she wore clung to her curves in an appealing manner. To the delight of the weary paladin she made no hostile movement and instead stared at the warrior with fascination.
“You have the spirit of the titans,” She said with admiration. “I need your aid to take the giants from the clutches of my uncle dark rule.”
“I am afraid I have a quest I am on already,” Sir Garrett responded.
