"Don't think I'm stupid. That's impossible," Evan exclaimed in Misty's voice. "I can understand the science that can affect vocal waves," he added. Unbeknownst to Evan, he gave her a very Misty expression and stood as Misty often does to Ash when she doesn't believe him. "But there's nothing that somehow can "change" some part of me."
Evan then reached to take the necklace off when Melody placed one hand on the necklace as well and challenged, "Then there's no reason not to leave it on. You said I could pick your costume, and this is part of it. Besides, ..." She gave Evan a very coy little smirk then said, "Do you really want to sound like yourself while dressed like that?"
She had Evan there. He hadn't thought about his voice. He'd never hear the end of it if someone recognized him and it got back to any of the kids at school.
"Well, OK, I guess," Evan said then gave her a smile. Melody giggled at that but he didn't know that it was because he now not only looked like Misty, but sounded like her and was acting like her as well.
"Then we're all set. Shall we head to the con?"
As he started to follow her out, Evan felt quite different. Figuring it was just the costume, he ignored it. However, as they said goodbye to their parents and went out the door, their mom mumbled asking herself, "I wonder which of Melody's friends that was?"
