You looked down at your feet as you thought about it. Admittedly, you felt guilty, but you knew that being honest would not solve anything. Perhaps you needed to try to be more active in getting used to Joanne as your mother. You weren't sure if it would work out, but who knows?
Looking at Joanne, you nodded. "I...I think that might help."
Joanne smiled warmly at your, wiping the tears off her eyes and cheeks. "Thank you Brett. I really want this to work out between us as a family. I'll let your father know about these plans. I'm sure he'll agree with some time with my daughters."
You gave a wry smile and nodded. Blinking a few times, this has probably been the longest conversation you had with her so far. It probably won't be the last. Taking a good long look at your mother before she left the couch, you realized that Joanne was actually quite...endowed. You knew she was quite pretty, but you had always avoided eye-contact with her to notice her other "features".
Growing slightly ashamed, you looked away as she got up from her seat and left to tell her husband the good news.
You jolted a bit when suddenly Susan came behind you and put a hand to your shoulder. She smiled earnestly at you. "Thank you Brett for giving mom a chance. You're actually quite mature."
You curled your lips and shrugged. "I...I mean, I want dad to be happy and I`d rather get used to...this as soon as I can."
Susan chuckled. "My mom is quite open and optimistic. I'm sure she will get you to loosen up and be more open about yourself as well."
You hummed, "Is that so?"
Truthfully, you tried not to think about it too much, otherwise you knew you'd get anxious. Taking a deep breath, you followed and continued to help with the setup of the party.
