Commander Jane Shepard looked outside of the windows in her Captain's Quarters. She was the commander of the Normandy the most advanced ship in the entire galaxy. Shepard enjoyed the peace while it lasted. Out of nowhere, she heard comm chatter. "Commander,"Joker said on the intercom,"Admiral Hackett would like to speak to you on the vidcom." "I'll be right down."
Shepard approached the Galaxy Map, and Admiral Hackett appeared onscreen. "Commander, I'm receiving reports that another Prothean beacon was just uncovered on Eden Prime. I'd like you to go check it out and return what you find to Alliance immediately, do you understand?" "Of course, sir." "Shepard, we need this beacon for important research that will greatly help our cause. Hackett out." And with that, the vidcom chat ended, and the Normandy approached the colony of Eden Prime.
Shepard decided to bring Miranda and Garrus with her. The shuttle brought the squad to ground level, and they began to make their way to the beacon. Oddly, there was no colonists, and no hostiles. "That's strange. I expected there to be some adversaries," Miranda said. Shepard responded,"Stay sharp." After minutes of walking, the group reached the beacon. Shepard and Garrus began to observe the surroundings, to make sure there were no enemies looking to ambush them. While the two were doing this, Miranda walked up to the beacon. A green hue began to emit from the beacon, and Miranda was slowly lifted into the air. In a quick action, Shepard sprinted to Miranda and pushed her out of the way. Shepard herself was lifted into the air. She began to see multiple visions. She hit the ground, and as she did so, the beacon exploded.
Days later, Shepard woke up groggily in the Med-Bay. She saw Dr. Chakwas approach her...
