Behind Harry's back Draco's nasal tones vanished. He allowed himself a wide smile, and when he heard the soft sweet French accent of a girl, the smile widened even further.
Turning around, he spotted the Beauxbatons girl sitting beside Crabbe and Goyle. It was hard to tell who was the most distracted between the three of them. Lucille was still in her powder blue uniform, and looking aghast at the table manners on either side of her.
Harry nodded a greeting over to her, and she returned a demure smile. He felt his heart skip a beat, she'd smiled at him. He didn't want to appear too lecherous so ran his gaze along the table. There was no sight at all of Draco, and nobody on the entire table seemed the least surprised about a Beauxbatons girl sitting with them.
He gave Lucille a sly wink and turned back to the Gryffindor table.
Ron was tucking in, like he'd never seen food before. While Hermione picked at hers, savouring each mouthful. She didn't want to make too much work for the House Elves. It was a conversation Harry recalled well, Hermione could be terribly preachy when she got a bee in her bonnet.
Although, when he thought of Dobby, and his appalling treatment he had to agree.
The butterbeer was particularly nice tonight, and as Harry lowered his glass he spotted another blue uniform across the room. On the Ravenclaw table there was another Beauxbatons student. The hat looked out of place in the Grand Hall, but Harry could tell even from where he was sitting that it was part of the uniform.
He hadn't realised that there actually was an exchange program when he sent Draco over there. Although he couldn't help but imagine Draco in a the short skirt of Hogwarts' girls uniform, as she struggled with the language.
Sitting his drink down he looked around the hall. There were isolated powder blue uniforms scattered throughout the room. Half a dozen on the Hufflepuff table, four on the Ravenclaw one. He checked the length of his own table. There were now seven Beauxbatons students eating. Their table manners were impeccable. Harry turned awkwardly and looked down the Slytherin table, he hadn't spotted the others on it. But there were now ten girls in their pale blue outfits. A chill ran down his spine, as a worrying idea formed in his brain.
