Sonic was running through the forest, on his way to visit Vanilla. The rabbit matriarch was going through a bit of empty nest syndrome lately with cream away at summer camp for the next couple months, so sonic decided to check in on her.
"Hey vanilla!" He said, coming up to her home.
"Oh, sonic! You're just in time! I made tea~!" Vanilla said her usual kind tone, though her expression seemed to be a bit tired, "Come in, come in!"
Sonic obliged her off, and the two sat around Vanilla's coffee table, making a bit of light chatter.
"...so then... how you holding up with Cream away?" Sonic asked.
"Oh, it's just a bit lonely here... I can't believe she's gotten so independent lately..." vanilla's tone gave a bitter sweet message.
"Hehe, well, that's probably because you're a great mom!" Sonic said, "Cream is lucky to have you. I mean, I've never really had a mother figure in my life..."
"Huh?! You didnt?" Vanilla said with concern.
"Yeah, orphan unfortunately. Was raised by an owl lady until I was six but... things happened and I basically had to raise myself..." Sonic sighed.
"You haven't had the love of a mother since before you were creams age..." vanilla said solemnly, but... it gave her an idea... "Sonic... there may be a way both of us could feel a little better...
"Huh...?" Was all Sonic said. He wasn't quite sure what she meant, but...
