This choice: Returning to the village • Go Back...Chapter #7Returning to the village by: Yote Heredrine follows at your heels as you march back to the village. She moves awkwardly, like a doll controlled by a bad puppeteer, stumbling through the deep pools of mud. Her foot disappears up to the ankle in a fresh cow pat with a squelch. One side of her face is caked in mud.
"does my form please you, master?" she asks hopefully, seeing you looking.
"It does not. The bust is far too big. I told you I wanted demure. And you walk like a drunk."
"This word, demure, what does it mean?" she asks innocently, her oversized breasts swaying unrestrained within the plain dress.
You grind your teeth. "It means you keep your mouth closed until we're out of the village, and try not to fuck any of the locals to death."
The Elder greets you as you enter the village, a trio of thuggish young men at his sides. "Is it done, wizard? Has the curse been lifted?"
"The demon is dead. A succubus, as I suspected. It was a hard fight, but I was successful in defeating her. Your village is safe."
The Elder sags with relief, but as his eyes fall on Heredrine they tighten in distrust "Who is this? I don't recognise her."
"Ah. Yes. Um. This is, uh, Hera. My companion."
"Please to meet you," the filth-encrusted succubus says, extending her arm, but you slap her hand down before it can make contact with the Elder.
"She wasn't with you when you rode in," the Elder states with suspicion.
"Uh huh. That's because... because... she was invisible, because I cast a spell on her," you say weakly. The Elder seems undatisfied, so you add, "Because I'm a Wizard." The combination of impatience and innate authority that the last word carries is enough to remind him of his place, and he accepts your explanation. "Now if there's no more business to attend to, I must leave. Evidently the succubus feeding off your village came from somewhere and it's imperative I find and destroy the source as soon as possibly. Have my horse made ready, and saddle another for my companion."
"There are no other horses, master wizard," Joshua says. "The demon scared them away. Also there is still the matter of my grandson."
Damn, you'd forgotten about Jesse. Had you killed Hera, he would have reverted to his original form on the moment of her death. by keeping the demon alive, you might very well have sentenced the boy to a life as a buxom wench. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
