The princess, the king's only daughter and seventh child, has been causing quite a stir as of late. Given her unique birth order she had a natural gift for magic. So much so that you despised her gifts for she was a sorceress. As much as you hated the fact that she would study out of various spell books to increase her magical prowess you were almost helpless to stop her. No matter what spell you would use to block her from the royal library, somehow any spell you cast would recoil on you instead.
One time you tried turning the princess into a mouse in hopes that her cat would attack her. Instead the spell backfired and you were turned into a mouse instead. For weeks you ate nothing but scraps and cheese and fled from the royal feline. Your peril was a source of great amusement to that witch queen known as the princess. After almost being killed by the royal cat the princess lifted the curse that you were under. She then assigned you to two months of royal cat duty. Of course your wife and children were pleased to see you safe after your latest mishap with the princess, but they weren't keen on the idea about tending to the royal cat's needs and wishes. However, you assigned some servants to tend to the spoiled rotten feline. Who knew a cat can be so demanding.
Today you were busy doing business as usual. Thankfully the royal pain named Princess Celina wasn't around. The last thing you wanted was to be hexed again. But you feared the day when the princess would desire your position as the consultant of magic. You dreaded the very idea, but eventually as you grow older the princess will eventually take the position for herself. So away you worked on various endeavors, yet unaware that an owl sitting in the window sill was spying on you. By the time you finished the owl managed to read all the information that it needed. Once you turned around towards the window the owl took off towards the castle.
"Damn it! That pesky princess was spying on me again. No doubt she plans on blackmailing me. She's already blackmailed several magi into spilling their secrets to her. Yet if I dared speak out against the princess the king and queen would have my head."
It was true that you weren't allowed to speak ill of the princess in front of the king and queen for they truly cherished her. Yet you had your suspicions that the king and queen's recent dive into insanity was caused by Princess Celina. You had no idea what the princess could be planning, but whatever it is would be your undoing. So off you went to report to the king. By the time you reached the castle gates you spotted...
